Decision to make the Wireless Telegraphy (Ultra-Wideband Equipment) (Exemption) Regulations 2009 | Ofcom

Ofcom have confirmed that the the Wireless Telegraphy (Ultra-Wideband Equipment) (Exemption) Regulations 2009 (the Regulations) that were made on 16 September 2009 will come into force on 15 October 2009.

These will: -

* Revoke two previous sets of UWB regulations.

* Prescribe transmission levels for certain bands where interference mitigation techniques are not applied.

* allow equipment to be used indoors and outdoors as long as the equipment is not attached to a fixed installation or fixed outdoors.

* allow equipment to be used at higher transmission level where mitigation techniques are used minimise interference.

* Allow UWB use for automotive and railway vehicles.

* Introduce levels suitable for Building Material Analysis (BMA) use.
