SipFoundry integrates with Skype

SipFoundry has announced that it's SipXecs product is now interoperable with Skype. This is made possible by Skype opening up a SIP interface.

This allows SIP users to gain access to Skype's network and calling rates which can be cheaper than other networks. It uses the standard Skype credits.

Skype have already worked with Digium to make Skype for Asterisk available, but this used a dedicated chan_skype module.

Skype have recently been investing heavily in SIP and other resources.
